PowerSpeak

Latin 1

Prerequisites: No experience necessary

Course Length: Each semester course is 90 lessons. Each lesson is about 30-45 minutes.

Notes: Course also suitable for children of other ages, depending upon background and experience

Course Description: This multimedia, game-based course for early-to mid-teen beginners in Latin transforms a “dead” language into a living one, with instruction equivalent to that found in the first semester of high school Latin I. Children learn the fundamental building blocks of world-language study: listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing. Each unit consists of a new vocabulary theme and grammar concept, numerous interactive games reinforcing vocabulary and grammar, reading and listening comprehension activities, speaking and writing activities, and cultural presentations covering significant aspects of Roman culture, and assessments. The course has been carefully aligned to national standards as set forth by ACTFL (the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages).
