Teach Children About Vocations

Children are never too young to learn that God has a plan for their lives and that an important part of life is discerning what path He wants them to take. Look and Learn Vocations is a new picture book by Casey Pawelek that helps young children discover the priesthood, religious life, married life, and single life, and explore the different ways people can serve God.

The section for each way of life illustrates the tangible ways those in different vocations serve God and others. For example, priests are shown administering the sacraments. Those in religious life are pictured praying, teaching, and serving the poor. Married people are depicted caring for their families and teaching the faith to their children, while single people are shown helping their communities.

A unique feature of this book is that it highlights various religious orders, such as the Franciscans, Carmelites, Dominicans, Benedictines, Jesuits, and Salesians, showing what their particular charisms are and how they are similar and different from each other.

Pawelek emphasizes that all vocations can be paths to holiness. No matter the path, all are called to participate in the life of the Church, pass on the faith, grow in holiness, and serve others. Look and Learn Vocations helps introduce children to the idea of vocations and can start them thinking about how they may be called to serve God in their lives
